Mala
A tandem flight you'll remember for the rest of your trip
About This Flying Site
A classic site in the north-east, flying above quiet plains and the Presa de Mala reservoir. The light here in autumn and winter is something else.

The Wind Decides Where We Fly
Lanzarote's wind shifts daily — north cliffs, south slopes, or coastal sites depending on conditions. Your pilot picks the best one the morning of your flight; you're booking the experience, not the location.
Mala is one of our regular sites — if conditions line up on your date, this is where you'll fly.

More about Mala
Mala is a winter site in the north-east of the island, tucked beside the Presa de Mala dam. With NE to E winds it offers steady ridge soaring and the easiest retrieves on the island.
Why fly here
- Made for winter. From October through March, when many coastal sites are off, Mala is on. The seabreeze sets up cleanly along the ridge.
- Plain landings. The flat agricultural land below the launch gives wide, forgiving landing options.
- Short retrieve. Drop your wing in the field, and the car is minutes away.
What to expect on the day
A short drive from Arrecife on the LZ-1 brings you to the dam. You'll be briefed at takeoff, lay out the wing on the ridge, and launch into a smooth coastal flow. Flights of 15–20 minutes are typical.
Best for
Off-season visitors, and anyone who wants an introduction to ridge soaring without the exposure of a sea cliff.
